I am a lifelong resident of the Waterloo area. Growing up I went to various schools and lived in various different neighborhoods. From Cedar Bend to Lafayette, to Summit Park I played the streets, met, and still know some of the most wonderful people. I am an East High Alumni and a proud graduate of Upper Iowa's MBA program. I enjoy the outdoors, my family, and serving others, which I mainly do through my Church community. I believe that my long career in manufacturing management, and the experience it has given me will be an asset as I sit on City Council. I am skilled with budgeting, problem solving, project management, and Organizational Improvement. I am decisive and fair, looking at all sides of issues to the best outcome for all. I am confident these skills will complement the Council in budgetary management and oversight. I believe listening to everyone and serving without self is the heart of Public Service.

Its time to bring common sense back to the City Council budget. Waterloo sits at an average of 1.7%, property tax, while the national average is 1.02%, and the votes to increase always pass. While this is occurring, our population is decreasing. Decreasing taxes and spending responsibly will keep our neighbors here and get people to want to move here.

We need to have a council comprised of knowledgeable people that find healthy discussion and disagreements to be a healthy part of democracy. No individual knows everything, and no one person is always right. We should have a council that questions each other and holds themselves accountable and transparent to the taxpayers, as public servants.

I will work with our Public Responders to ensure their needs are met while respecting the burden to the taxpayer.

I will work to find and vote for opportunities that are reliable, secure, and put our community and the taxpayer first. We need more family focused businesses, as more support for small businesses owned by Waterloo residents to ensure our community thrives.

While this is a private entity, it is still part of the council's role to find creative ways to support its citizens. I would work with the transit system, look at the possibility of a non-profit grant programs, and seek to find creative ways to support our neighbors without transportation.

We have to recognize the great need for mental health services along with the need to support the homeless. While we might not all see it, many of our neighbors are struggling with one of these, or both. As your council representative I will work to improve programs advocating for existing and new programs to improve services provided.
Make sure you get to the polls and let your voice be heard!
